Tiny Laser Diode Packs Invisible Punch
Photonic Products, the UK opto-electronics device manufacturer and laser diode specialist, has introduced the Sanyo DL-8142-201 830nm high power, infrared wavelength laser diode with an optical output power of 150mW. This diode is supplied in a 5.6mm package which is easier to manufacture than the 9mm package diode which it replaces, resulting in a lower cost laser diode.
The Sanyo DL-8142-201 laser diode has the additional benefit of a lower aspect ratio than its predecessor, which gives improved typical beam divergence of 16 degrees, making the diode ideal for use in night vision, distance measurement and printing. It is also suitable for use as a light source in applications where the high optical power output combined with the small package size is critical.

The World's Highest Output Power At 640nm
Photonic Products has also introduced the Opnext HL6364DG, HL6365DG and HL6376DG, the first low-operating current and high optical output power red laser diodes, (640nm wavelength band, 65mW max. optical output power) which offer the World's highest output power in 640nm laser diodes for applications including industrial and medical sensors and display light sources. In order to reduce the low operating current to 125mA, the Multi-Quantum Well (MQW) *1structure and wave-guide structure are optimized. Also, the aspect ratio*2 has been successfully improved from 3.5 to 2.1. They are supplied in a 5.6mm package.
Another World First for Opnext is the HL6366DG, HL6367DG, HL6378DG series of 642nm visible wavelength laser diodes which offer the highest ever optical output power of 90mW (max.) in a 5.6mm package with high temperature operation of 50 degrees C with a low operating current of 155mA typ. They are ideal as light sources for laser displays.
These diodes extend the battery life for battery-powered equipment, ultimately resulting in energy and cost savings.

Wavelength Stabilised Laser Diodes from Ondax
Photonic Products has been appointed by Ondax as authorised European distributor for its range of wavelength stabilised laser diodes which are miniature lasers in a standard TO package.
Stabilisation is achieved using the Ondax Volume Holographic Grating (VHG) PowerLocker(tm) which increases the spectral brightness of laser diodes, ensuring a precise centre wavelength over the locked region and improving temperature stability and yield. This enhances performance and enables many applications including storage, metrology, bio-instrumentation, analytical instrumentation, sensing, flow cytometry and graphic arts.
The stabilised laser has a single-mode, narrow linewidth of <50MHz and a very low temperature dependence of <0.03nm/ degrees C, compact size (5.6mm and 9mm standard TO package) and is wavelength locked to <±1nm. The laser is available in standard wavelengths of; 640nm, 658nm, 685nm, and 785nm. Custom wavelengths are available upon request.
